Jan van der Stelt
In 1974 Jan obtained his degree at the Nautical Institute at Vlissingen. He sailed from 1974 until 1987 as deck officer in all ranks in the merchant marine deep sea. Thereafter, and in combination with his Law studies at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, he worked in shipping and forwarding companies. In 1990, after having graduated Jan joined Koster, Claassen & Smallegange as a lawyer. In 2000 he was one of the founders of Smallegange, van Dam & van der Stelt, since 1 June 2009 Smallegange Attorneys. Jan specialises in the (international) admiralty, maritime and transportation practice with emphasis on wet work and insurance law.
