Welcome to Smallegange Lawyers

Smallegange is a specialized maritime, insurance and transport law office, based in Rotterdam, established in January 2000 by a group of experienced lawyers, who commenced in the maritime, insurance and transport law practice as early as 1980. Of the ten attorneys in the office, the majority has a background in the maritime, inland waterway, royal navy, and/or corporate world and have worked in these areas, both on board ships as well as ashore, prior to becoming an attorney. An office staff of eight supports the attorneys.

Traditionally the clients of the law office are a number of port, transport and insurance related companies within the Rotterdam area, as well as hull & machinery, cargo and liability underwriters, P&I Clubs, ship finance banks, ship agents, stevedores, repair yards and ship chandlers, and a number of ship owners/liner operators/managers, both deep-sea carriers as well as inland waterway carriers in the Netherlands and in foreign countries.

The number of attorneys working with Smallegange, is increasing, just as the number of clients and cases in which the office is involved. Because of its growing business, Smallegange is able to achieve its goal to offer clients full-service legal expertise on all aspects of the maritime, port, transportation and transport insurance business.

Smallegange has access to a worldwide network of affiliated law offices, in order to deal with matters, which often have international aspects, in foreign countries fast, efficient and successful. Apart from Dutch, attorneys speak English, German, French, Spanish and (some) Mandarin.
